M. K. Stalin inaugurated
1,217 completed development works worth ₹1,785.37 crore in Nagercoil today during a government event. He also
laid the foundation stones for 1,237 new projects and
distributed government welfare benefits to a total of
3,12,082 beneficiaries.
Completed Works Inaugurated Across Sectors
The completed projects inaugurated by the chief minister include a wide range of public infrastructure and community facilities across Kanyakumari district. These include:
Urban Development & Public Services
· Water supply improvement works in multiple town panchayats· bus stand constructions and upgrades· New scientific parks and marketplace infrastructure· Public toilets and street lighting enhancements
Rural Development
· Rural roads and village development under government schemes· Community welfare facilities and public utility improvements· Housing and livelihood amenities under rural development programs
Health & Education
· New and upgraded health centers and hospitals· school classroom buildings and educational infrastructure· Diagnostic and public health laboratories
Agriculture, Fisheries & Transport
· Coastal protection works and improvements at fishing harbours· Rural road extensions and bridge works· Irrigation and water management facilitiesOverall, 632 completed works valued at ₹632.35 crore were inaugurated by the Chief Minister.
New Projects: Foundations Laid
Chief minister stalin laid foundation stones for 1,237 new development works worth ₹294.09 crore covering various sectors such as:· Water supply systems and public utilities· Road construction and upgrades· IT park infrastructure in Agastheeswaram – Nagercoil South· Childcare, community centres, and other civic amenitiesThese projects are expected to improve infrastructure and services for residents across Kanyakumari district.
Government Welfare Aid Distributed to 3,12,082 Beneficiaries
During the event, welfare benefits totalling ₹858.92 crore were distributed to
3,12,082 beneficiaries across multiple social support schemes. Assistance was given under programmes in the following areas:· Rural housing and new house deeds under government housing schemes· Financial aid to senior citizens, widows, persons with disabilities· Water supply connections under AMRUT 2.0 programme· Loans and credit support for farmers, women self‑help groups and small enterprises· Support for education, health insurance, and livelihood programmesThese welfare initiatives aim to improve the quality of life for residents in both urban and rural parts of the district.
Key Highlights from the Chief Minister’s Visit
· The event took place in
Nagercoil, Kanyakumari district with participation from ministers, MPs/MLAs and other officials.· In addition to the main programme, 90 newly built houses at the Sri Lankan tamil Rehabilitation Camp in Perumalpuram were inaugurated, with the chief minister reaffirming the State’s support for the community.
