Petrol anddiesel prices rise sharply. Motorists in puducherry are shocked

Chennai: petrol and diesel will increase by Rs. 2 from the 1st of next month due to the increase in VAT in puducherry, which is close to tamil Nadu. The sudden increase in petrol and diesel prices has come as a shock to motorists.

Petrol and diesel prices rise.

In tamil Nadu, petrol is currently being sold for Rs. 101.3 per liter and diesel for Rs. 92.61 per liter. VAT is being collected less in Puducherry. Currently, VAT is being collected on petrol at 14.54 percent and 14.55 percent in Karaikal. As a result, petrol is currently being sold at Rs 94.26 and diesel at Rs 84.48 in Puducherry.

In this situation, the puducherry government has decided to increase VAT in puducherry to increase the government's tax revenue. Lieutenant governor Kailashnathan has approved the file for this. Following this, the government has now issued a government order increasing the VAT rate. According to this, VAT on petrol in puducherry has been increased to 16.98 percent and 16.99 percent in Karaikal.

Prices are rising by up to Rs 2

Similarly, VAT on diesel has increased to 11.22 percent and 11.23 percent in Karaikal. Similarly, VAT has been increased in the Maggi and Yenam regions. It has been reported that this tax increase has not come into effect immediately and will come into effect from the New Year, i.e. from january 1. With this VAT hike, the price of petrol and diesel in puducherry will increase by Rs. 1.25 to Rs. 2 per liter.

Currently, petrol is sold at Rs. 94.26 in puducherry, Rs. 94.03 in Karaikal, and diesel at Rs. 84.48 in puducherry and Rs. 84.35 in Karaikal. There will be a difference of 5 to 10 paise at each petrol station depending on the distance. It is said that the puducherry government will get an additional income of up to Rs. 100 crore per year due to the price hike.

Motorists shocked

Since the price of petrol and diesel in puducherry is low, motorists near the puducherry data-border can be seen going there to fill up with petrol and diesel. Similarly, hired trucks will also fill up with diesel in Puducherry. The current increase in petrol and diesel prices has come as a shock to motorists.

People are saying that this will put an additional burden on the people who are already affected by the price hike. It is worth noting that although the price of diesel and petrol has been increased by Rs. 2, it is still lower in puducherry than in other states including Tamil Nadu.
