Manmohan Singh is the 14th prime minister of India. He was born in Punjab. He was also a member of the National congress Party. He took office as the prime minister of india for the first time on May 22, 2004. He is a Sikh. manmohan singh is the first indian prime minister who is not of the Hindu religion. His contributions to his political journey are many. manmohan singh was born on september 26, 1932, in a village in the punjab province of India. He completed his matriculation examination from punjab university in 1948.
 Political career: manmohan singh became a member of the rajya sabha in 1991. Earlier this year, he announced his retirement from the Rajya Sabha. manmohan singh continued his political journey for more than 33 years. He represented india at many international conferences and international organizations. He led india to the Commonwealth Conference held in cyprus in 1993 and the World Conference on Human Rights held in Vienna in the same year. One of the important decisions taken by manmohan singh as prime minister was the "Mahatma gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act", which guarantees 100 days of wage employment. Various people benefited from this. The Right to Information Act was implemented in 2005 under his government. In 2013, manmohan Singh's government introduced the National Food Security Act to provide subsidized food grains to two-thirds of India's population.
Education: manmohan singh studied at the university of Cambridge, where he graduated with a degree in economics. In 1962, he received a D. Phil degree in economics from the college at Nuffield University. His book "India's Export Trends and Prospects for Self-Growth" was a seminal work in the early development of India's trade policy.
