India Tampered with the Ball - Inzamam ul Haq raises Concern

Afghanistan's cricket squad is undoubtedly the largest success story of the t20 world cup 2024, but the pakistan cricket team is the main talking point for all the wrong reasons. Aside from the team's appalling on-field performance, a number of former Pakistani cricketers—many of them unhappy, if I may say so—have gone on rants against their own players and have frequently targeted the indian squad.

Remarkably, Inzamam ul Haq, one of the best batsmen of his generation and a former head selector in Pakistani cricket, has joined this list. Speaking about India's victory over australia in their last Super 8 Group 1 match, the former captain of pakistan expressed concern over Arshdeep Singh's ability to reverse the ball in just the first 15 overs. He continued by saying that the umpires should be alert to such incidents.

“Arshdeep Singh when he was bowling the 15th over, the ball was reversing. is it too early (for reverse swing) with the new ball? This means the ball was ready for reverse swing by the 12th or the 13th over, Umpires should keep their eyes open (to spot) these things,” said Inzamam during a talk show.

Salim Malik, Inzamam's former colleague, was also on the panel during the chat show, and he too added his thoughts, noting that when it comes to some teams, people tend to keep their eyes closed. "Inzy, as I always say, there are some teams that people choose to ignore, and india is one of those teams. Malik was the first player to be banned from all cricket when Justice Qayyum's inquiry found him guilty of match-fixing in 2000. "I remember in Zimbabwe, when Wasim (Akram) was bowling, he made it wet, and we were all surprised at it; as in how come one side was wet," Malik said.
