The Cyberabad traffic police on thursday night sent out a message to the public advising people to adjust their travel plans since, according to meteorological predictions, light to moderate rain is expected to persist for a further hour.

As per the alert, there won't be any strong downpours for the next one to one and a half hours, but there will be consistent mild to moderate showers. Rain is now stratifying.

Traffic is moving slowly in places like IKEA Rotary, NCB Jn, Gachibowli Jn, Whisper Valley, Nectar Garden, shilpa Layout Flyover, NIA (towards JNTU), RTA office from Kondapur, Kothaguda Jn and kukatpally Y Jn, according to the Cyberabad police bulletin.

A period of intense rains in hyderabad knocked everything out of gear. There have been reports of waterlogging in several metropolitan areas. Teams from DRF have been sent to several locations to address waterlogging and reestablish road flow.

When the city is hit by heavy rains, parts of Hitech City like madhapur and Gachibowli usually experience delayed traffic and severe traffic congestion. Hyderabad's IT division is under the jurisdiction of the Cyberabad police. In the past, when rains interrupted everyday commutes, traffic backups have also lingered for more than two hours.

Hyderabad residents have been warned by the IMD to be vigilant and not seek cover under trees as this might be harmful. They also advised people to avoid standing near electrical poles and cables. For assistance with the GHMC-DRF, the government have provided the helplines 040-21111111 and 9000113667.
