This includes 27.9 percent of children and 13.5 percent of adults worldwide. It also shows that 83.2 percent of the world's poorest people live in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Sabina Algere, director of the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative, said that conflict is hampering efforts to reduce poverty.
