Deputy chief minister of Karnataka, D.K. Shivakumar, recently launched the Cauvery project, an ambitious initiative worth ₹4,336 crore aimed at improving water supply in Bengaluru and surrounding areas. This project, which focuses on tapping into the Cauvery River, is designed to address the growing demand for drinking water as Bengaluru's population continues to expand.

The project is part of a broader effort to ensure sustainable water management for the city. With its completion, over 775 million liters of water per day (MLD) will be supplied to Bengaluru, significantly alleviating the city's water scarcity. This will improve access to clean drinking water for both urban residents and nearby rural areas, boosting living conditions and public health.

DK Shivakumar emphadata-sized that this project reflects the state government's commitment to addressing critical infrastructure needs, particularly in managing water resources. Given Bengaluru's rapid urbanization, ensuring a stable water supply has been a key priority, and the Cauvery project is seen as a major step towards that goal.

The implementation of this project will also create employment opportunities and enhance economic development in the region. It reinforces the state's ongoing efforts to modernize its infrastructure and tackle long-standing issues related to water availability, promising long-term benefits for the community and sustainable development in Karnataka.
