A person disrespecting a summons only "invites his own arrest" - Himanta Sharma

G GOWTHAM
Disregarding a summons merely "invites his own arrest," assam Chief Himanta Biswa Sarma made fun of his delhi counterpart arvind kejriwal, who was detained by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the liquor policy issue. "If someone ignores a summons after receiving eight or nine summonses, they are courting their own arrest. Perhaps he wouldn't have been detained today if he had answered to the initial summons and appeared before it (the Enforcement Directorate)," the man stated.

Sarma's statement was made only a few hours after the aam aadmi party (AAP) declared five promises for the people of the northeastern state of assam on saturday, the day they began their lok sabha election campaign. The party stated that the five assurances were to maintain Assamese culture, enhance education and healthcare, manage floods, restructure the tea sector, and create jobs.

In an attempt to penetrate the state, the party has fielded two candidates in assam for the next national elections: Sonitpur native Rishiraj Kauntilya and Dibrugarh native Manoj Dhanowar.

AAP leader Dilip Pandey stated in Dibrugarh on saturday that "Arvind Kejriwal's guarantee is he does what he says" in response to the announcement.

"Everyone in the nation is aware that arvind kejriwal has delivered on all of his promises, including those on pensions, schools, jobs, women's safety, water and power supplies, and elder pilgrimages, starting in delhi and moving on to Punjab. "The only politician who has kept all of his promises is arvind kejriwal," he said.

On march 21, the AAP national convenor was taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate from his delhi home in relation to the since-canceled delhi liquor policy.

The delhi High court had earlier that day denied kejriwal interim relief in connection with the several summonses the Enforcement Directorate had sent him regarding the matter.

He will remain under the Enforcement Directorate's custody until march 28.
