Telangana - Additional surcharge for open-access consumers

SIBY JEYYA
From april 1 to september 30, 2024, open-access customers will be subject to an extra cost of Rs 1.40 per kWh collected by the electricity distribution firms. The distribution licenses satisfy the telangana State electricity Regulation Commission's (TSERC) fixed cost requirements derived from supply contracts. There will be an extra cost, the amount of which will depend on how much power open-access users use.

Open-access users that utilize electricity for self-consumption, especially when transmitting power from their captive power projects (CPPs), will not be subject to the extra cost.

Additionally, it won't be applied to those who use green energy if they pay the set fees and generate electricity from trash.

Wind projects and those that use green energy to create green hydrogen and green ammonia will not be subject to the extra cost.

The TSERC further stated that the present government policy would be used to decide whether open-access customers are exempt from paying an extra premium.

Two of the biggest issues facing Asia's oldest monastery, located in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, is sustained electricity supply and easy access to healthcare. The chief of the monastery, Abbot Shedling Tulku Thupten Tendar Rinpoche, is particularly concerned about the trash that the increasing number of guests is leaving behind.
