A Tale of Two Political Rivals in Uttarandhra!!

G GOWTHAM
Conversations on the dynamics of political ties have been triggered by the recent visit of Konatala Ramakrishna, the candidate for Anakapalli janasena and former minister, to the home of Daadi veerabhadra rao, the former minister and senior leader of the TDP. This visit is interpreted as proof that there are no true friends or foes in politics. Konatala Ramakrishna's political rival was Daadi veerabhadra rao, a tdp member who entered politics forty years ago. They stood against one another as candidates for various parties in elections. Even though they didn't use the same platform, their paths did meet when they both joined the YSRCP.

After leaving a profession as a teacher and joining the telugu desam party almost forty years ago, Daadi veerabhadra rao entered politics and was elected as an mla from Anakapalli in 1985. Konatala Ramakrishna's family was involved in the jaggery industry during the time. For a second time, Daadi veerabhadra rao ran in the 1989 assembly elections. At the same time, veteran congress leader Dronamaraju Satyanarayana encouraged Konatala ramakrishna to join the congress party and run from Anakapalli for the Lok Sabha. ramakrishna was elected mp and veerabhadra rao as MLA. They have remained political rivals ever since.

Later in 1991, Konatala ramakrishna ran and won again in the lok sabha by-elections as a candidate for the Congress. Three years later, in 1994, Daii accomplished a hat-trick of victories, winning the assembly elections and his third term as an MLA. After two years, Konatala ran for the third time as a congress candidate in the 1996 lok sabha elections, but she was defeated by ayyannapatrudu of the TDP. Again in 1999, there were by-elections for the lok sabha without a year's change. Simultaneously, there were elections for the assembly. This time, Konatala ramakrishna ran as a congress candidate for the Assembly. Daadi ran as normal on the TDP. In this close contest, veerabhadra rao prevailed with a majority of 3,711 votes.

The level of political confrontation has been rising ever since. The tdp launched another onslaught during the 2004 elections, and the congress had ups and downs. Konatala prevailed in this election, while Daadi veerabhadra rao lost for the first time. Konatala ran for congress in the 2009 elections, veerabhadra rao for the tdp, and ganta srinivasa rao for the newly established praja rajyam Party. In this three-way election, Ganta emerged victorious.

Daadi veerabhadra rao defected from the tdp and joined the YSRCP before to the 2014 elections. Despite coming from the same party, there is no evidence online that the two leaders have ever shared a platform. Recently, Konatala ramakrishna joined the janasena party, and Daadi veerabhadra rao, together with his sons Ratnakar and Jayveer, rejoined the TDP. As part of the TDP-Janasena partnership, janasena was given the Anakapalli seat, and Konatala ramakrishna was declared the contender.

The visit by Konatala ramakrishna to the residence of Daadi veerabhadra rao is perceived as an attempt to set aside their long-standing political rivalry. He greeted Daadi with grace and asked for collaboration in the run-up to the elections, emphasizing how dynamic and malleable political relationships can be.
