Telangana - Officer held for diverting Rythu Bima, Rythu Bandhu funds

SIBY JEYYA
An Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO) from the Agiryal cluster of Kondurg Mandal, ranga reddy district, Goreti srisailam, was detained by the Cyberabad police today on suspicion of embezzling public monies from the state's Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima programs. In addition to processing fraudulent insurance claims, the defendants embezzled Rs 2 crore in additional payments intended for farmers.

Both of the farmer projects were implemented in the days of the preceding Bharat Rashtra Samithi. Land-owning farmers who participate in the Rythu Bandhu initiative receive an input subsidy of Rs 5000 per acre each season. Accordingly, under the policy, an individual who owns two acres of land would receive Rs 10,000 throughout the Rabi and Kharif seasons.

The money diversion was discovered as a result of a police report submitted by the ranga reddy district's district agriculture officer, who expressed concerns over 20 Rythu Bhima claims about the Agiryal cluster in Kondurg Mandal.

130 fake Pattadar claims under Rythu Bandhu

After the matter was investigated, it was found that Goreti srisailam had submitted 20 false claims under the Rythu Bima life insurance corporation (LIC) program, totaling one crore rupees. Furthermore, he embezzled Rs. 1 crore in Rythu Bandhu monies between 2019 and the present, using 130 fictitious pattadars and non-claimants.

The complaint led the Kondurg PS SHO to file a case and launch an inquiry. Documentary evidence and tangible items have been taken from the accused by EOW officers.

A. Sreedhar, Inspector of police, Economic Offences Wing, Cyberabad, is looking into the matter, and K. Prasad, Dy. Commissioner of police, EOW, Cyberabad, is in charge of it, according to a news statement from the police department in Cyberabad.
