Controversial OTT Show - CBI Files Case

SIBY JEYYA
It's well known that the indian government has been attempting to control the content that streams on over-the-top (OTT) platforms. Another step in the right direction is the recent decision to require OTT services to transmit only content that has been filtered. The cbi has now taken a more aggressive stance and filed a court case against Netflix's soon-to-air original television program, The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth.

The very contentious 2012 murder of Sheena Bora served as the inspiration for this play. The programme reveals the string of events in which Sheena's mother Indrani is said to have attempted, with assistance from her driver and ex-husband, to hide the evidence that her daughter had been killed. The cbi inquiry is still ongoing, and the matter hasn't been resolved in court even after ten years. In this regard, the cbi has filed a court case to stop Netflix from airing this episode.

The cbi has petitioned the court to halt the show's premieres, which are scheduled to begin on Netflix on the 23rd of this month. This month on the 20th, there will be a hearing on the case. What the court's decision in this case will be remains to be seen.
