Telangana Hyderabad - Man prints Fake Currency at home inspired by ‘Farzi’

On Saturday, february 3, Balanagar and Allapur police uncovered a counterfeit money ring and confiscated 810 bogus Rs 500 notes. The accused, Vanam Laxminarayana, manufactured phony currency at his uppal home using a screen printer, green foil paper, JK Excel bond sheets, cutters, and a lamination machine for the green foil paper, inspired by the web series 'Farzi.'

Police apprehended his accomplice, Erukala pranay Kumar, and Rs 20,000 in counterfeit cash at a fruit and vegetable market after receiving a tip-off. He was testing counterfeit notes on local fruit and vegetable dealers. According to sources, Vanam cheated individuals by mortgaging false gold, and two charges were filed against him in 2023. Surprisingly, his family members were not aware of his acts. He had solicited his partner for clients and promised a profit split in exchange. They had agreed to sell the counterfeit cash at a 1:4 ratio, authorities added.

Acting on a tip, the SOT team apprehended v Laxminarayana (37) and E pranay Kumar (26), both warangal locals who lived in separate parts of the city. Laxminarayana bought a printer, a laptop, and other materials, created the phony cash at home, and asked pranay Kumar to distribute the counterfeit currency in the marketplace. "Both of them decided to exchange the counterfeit notes at the ratio of 1:4 to people and started searching for buyers when on information both of them were caught," said SOT Balanagar, the inspector in charge. A case was filed against them at Allapur police Station, and both were remanded.
