Unemployed applicants in Telangana's sky-high aspirations were dashed on thursday when the newly constituted congress administration failed to follow its campaign pledge to issue the Group - I notification on february 1.
The congress party vowed in its election campaign to fill two lakh positions within a year of taking office. It also released a 'guaranteed' work calendar, with the Group - I notice set for february 1. However, with the State government failing to reach its deadline, there is a sense of betrayal among prospective job seekers, who now believe that the pledges to fill Group-I positions were merely props used by the congress party to win the assembly elections.
Fifty days after the founding of the congress administration, on january 30, the Finance Department issued a hasty memo seeking vacancy status under the Group - I services from several ministries. The complete status of vacant jobs was only made known on wednesday evening, a day before the "guaranteed" notification was issued.
According to knowledgeable sources, based on the information provided by various departments, the Finance department has identified around 97 new positions in the Group - I category. It is believed that the Finance Department will approve the recruitment of these additional positions, in addition to the 503 openings announced by the previous BRS government.
The TSPSC is anticipated to submit an amendment to the existing notification with new postings after receiving approval from the Finance department. This technique, however, is complicated and time-consuming.
In general, after receiving a green light from the Finance department for recruitment to agencies such as the TSPSC, departments concerned place indents outlining the number of vacancies, qualifications, curriculum, and roster points, among other things. This process takes at least 10 days and up to two weeks. Given the extensive process, the Group - I notification may take longer.
The former BRS administration has advertised 503 Group - I positions in 2022. As many as 2.33 lakh people enrolled for the test, which was held but cancelled owing to paper leaks and failure to collect biometric information during the exam.
