The congress administration has initiated an investigation into claims of large-scale irregularities in transactions with several real estate corporations under hmda (Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority) jurisdiction during the previous BRS regime. About 14 teams of acb officials conducted searches in different sites associated with balakrishna, the director of the Planning wing in the hmda under the BRS administration. The raids targeted his house, relatives' homes, and properties affiliated with him. The operation was launched based on intelligence indicating that balakrishna had amassed large assets through alleged illicit means.
The claims further state that certain BRS leaders, previous ministers, and bureaucrats, including erstwhile MA&UD Secretary Arvind Kumar and former MA&UD minister K T Rama Rao, were involved in the alleged scheme. According to the acb, the raids on Balakrishna's and his family's homes on wednesday revealed disproportionate assets worth more than Rs 100 crore.

It should be noted that the congress when in opposition, voiced concerns over the distribution of expensive government lands to some real estate businesses in the auction by decreasing the market price in premium regions such as Kokapet inside ghmc bounds. They further claimed that the BRS administration had unfairly rewarded enterprises such as Rajapushpa, which is owned by the family of BRS MLC P Venkatrami Reddy, even though they were acquired through open bidding.

Chief minister A revanth reddy also got a report on the sale of hmda lands during the previous decade. It is reported that several BRS MLAs and MLCs in Greater hyderabad were involved in the city's real estate sector. Before the assembly elections, ED and IT searches were carried out on various real estate enterprises and their owners' homes. The acb was now pursuing hmda officials who claimed to have collaborated with certain leaders in the allocation of lands to well-known property development enterprises.
