A massive fire broke out on wednesday night at Khadim Hanfia Jamia Masjid Sharif located in the Drass area of Kargil. The mosque has been completely destroyed after the fire. Most of the things inside the mosque have been burnt to ashes. The fire has been extinguished with the help of the indian Army, police and fire Department. The mosque has suffered severe damage. This is one of the oldest mosques in Drass. Now the fire has been extinguished.

Social activist Sajjad Kargil has tweeted about the accident, 'Fire has broken out in Jamia Masjid, one of the oldest mosques in Drass. This is sad. Drass is a sensitive area but even more unfortunate is that there is not even a single fire service here. Such incidents have happened earlier also. This union territory administration has not learned anything from the earlier incidents.

An officer present on the spot has said that the fire first broke out lighter, after which the entire mosque was engulfed in flames. The mosque has been completely destroyed in the accident. Everything present inside the mosque has been burnt to ashes.

Why was the mosque completely destroyed?

Most of the parts of this mosque located in Drass were made of wood. This is the reason why the whole mosque started burning in no time and people could not extinguish it. No one has been injured in this accident. No information has been revealed about what caused the fire.
