Former PM Shinzo Abe was delivering a speech for the consular election in the city of Nara at 11:30 am local time on Friday, The japan Times reported. 

The rally was held near Yamatosaidaiji Station in Nara City. 

According to the police, there have been two cases of abuse. 

Some more people are said to be injured in this.

The japan Times reports Yomiuri Shimbun was on the scene at the time of the incident. 

He told the media that former PM Shinzo Abe had reached the venue at 11.20 am. 

As he began to introduce the consular candidate of the Liberal Democratic Party, a young man opened fire from behind. 

At that time a loud sound was heard. 

The young man had a weapon like a long tube.


According to Japanese journalist Yomiuri Shimbun, an ambulance arrived 15 minutes after the former PM was shot. 

With this, he was taken to the hospital. 

By then a lot of blood had been shed. 

It is said that Abe's condition is very critical. 

There has also been a heart attack. 

Abe is 67 years old. 

He is already battling serious ailments.

As reported by The japan Times, the suspect who shot Shinzo Abe is named Tetsuya Yamagami. 

His age is 41 years. 

He is a resident of Nara city. 

Police are still interrogating him. 

He is said to have been a former soldier of the Japanese Navy.
