Dept of Social Welfare makes 14 announcements for Women

The establishment of integrated service centres in ten corporations to provide all supportive services to women and children affected by violence, conducting intensive awareness campaigns in 19 districts to prevent anaemia, and developing electronic technology to monitor children born underweight were all discussed during today's debate in the tamil Nadu Legislative assembly on the Department of Social Welfare and Women's Rights grant request. 


Minister for Social Welfare and Women's Rights Geeta jeevan made a number of significant announcements, including the provision of surveillance equipment, 270 days of childcare leave for government female employees and teachers who adopt and care for children through surrogate mothers, and the details of the funds allocated for it.


> At the Department of Social Welfare and Women's Rights' headquarters, a Project Management Unit will be established to coordinate and monitor projects implemented under the Social Welfare, Social Security, and Integrated Child Development Programs, as well as projects implemented with World bank assistance.

> A comprehensive feasibility study for the construction of an integrated campus for older folks would be conducted at a cost of one crore rupees.

> Integrated service Centers would be established in ten corporations at a cost of '11 crore to provide all supportive services to women and children affected by violence in one location.
