Gita Gopinath: Head of IMF - In Action early next year!

Gita is currently the Chief Economist of the international Monetary Fund. Gita Gopinath joined the IMF in october 2018. She has also served as the Chief Economic Adviser to the government of Kerala.

Gita Gopinath has been appointed as the new Deputy Managing director of Geoffrey Okamoto. Gita Gopinath will take over early next year. 

IMF chief Kristalina Georgieva said she was the right person at the right time. Gita is currently the Chief Economist of the international Monetary Fund. Gita Gopinath joined the IMF in october 2018. She has also served as the Chief Economic Adviser to the government of Kerala.


In addition to being the Chief Economist, Gita was also the director of the IMF's Research Division. Gita Gopinath is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

She was selected by the World Economic Forum as one of the youngest world leaders. Gita Gopinath has been appointed as the Chief Economist of the international Monetary Fund (IMF) from India, following in the footsteps of former Reserve bank Governor raghuram Rajan.


Gita Gopinath's schooling was in Mysore. Gita holds an Honors degree in economics from Lady Shriram College, delhi and an MA from the delhi School of economics and the university of Washington. 

She also received his doctorate from Preston University. Gita began her career as an assistant professor at the university of Chicago in 2001 and moved to Harvard university in 2005.
