The Union government on wednesday informed parliament that 348 mobile apps identified by the home Ministry for unauthorized transmission of user data to companies located outside the country have been blocked. In his written reply to the Lok Sabha, minister of State for Electronics and Information technology Rajeev chandrasekhar mentioned that these apps have been developed by various countries including China.

He said that based on the home Ministry's request, the Ministry of Electronics and Information technology (MeitY) has blocked those 348 mobile apps as such data transfers violate India's sovereignty and integrity, India's security, and state security. There is no information about when these 348 apps were disabled by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
Last month, The Battlegrounds mobile india app was removed from the google Play Store and App Store on government orders. This action was taken without any warning. However, google confirmed that the government ordered the removal of the popular online game.
India raised concerns about South Korean game development company PGMI's data sharing, after which it was removed from app stores, the indian government told Reuters. According to Section 69A of the Information technology Act of india, the government has the power to block certain sites from public use, considering reasons including national security. However, Skyesports CEO and founder shiva Nandy recently took to instagram to indicate that the ban is temporary. He mentioned that the app will soon be back in use in India.
