A threat to national security..? Government blocks 348 Apps..?
The Union government on wednesday informed parliament that 348 mobile apps identified by the home Ministry for unauthorized transmission of user data to companies located outside the country have been blocked. In his written reply to the Lok Sabha, minister of State for Electronics and Information technology Rajeev chandrasekhar mentioned that these apps have been developed by various countries including China.
He said that based on the home Ministry's request, the Ministry of Electronics and Information technology (MeitY) has blocked those 348 mobile apps as such data transfers violate India's sovereignty and integrity, India's security, and state security. There is no information about when these 348 apps were disabled by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
