England included star pacer Mark Wood in their squad for the 2nd Test against west indies, set to kickstart on thursday at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Wood replaces the legendary james Anderson, who bid farewell in his final Test at Lord's, last Friday.


Mark Wood was not included in the england squad for the opening Test against West Indies. He was rested following his participation in the t20 world cup in the USA and west indies, where he claimed three wickets. The last time Wood played an international Test match for england was against India, earlier this year.

ENG vs WI 1st Test at Lord's Stadium was james Anderson's career's final international match for England. He made his international debut on december 15, 2002, in a melbourne ODI against Australia. In ODIs, the star pacer claimed 269 wickets in 194 matches, with his best figures being 5 wickets for 23 runs.


In Tests, Anderson ended up picking 704 wickets in 188 matches, achieving his best of 7 wickets for 42 runs. He also took 18 wickets in 19 t20 Internationals.


Following his retirement from Test cricket, Anderson is expected to join the england coaching team as a fast-bowling mentor.
