In the picture is a rare Newspaper Advertisement given by NTR Fans Associations way back in 1982. The advertisement calls for fans to come to the Airport to welcome NT Rama Rao on the occasion of the actor making political entry. On that day, 29th March 1982, NTR announced the formation of his Telugu Desam Party on that day in his Rama Krishna Film Studios, Nacharam. Telugu Desam Party came to power within nine months of its formation in the 1983 Assembly elections. NTR formed the first non-Congress government in Andhra Pradesh and later also achieved the rare distinction of being the first regional party to become the main opposition party (33 MPs) in Parliament in the Central Government during the 8th Lok Sabha from 1984 to 1989. It was that time when Congress Party under Rajiv Gandhi's leadership swept all the state except Andhra Pradesh in the sympathy wave. The party ruled Andhra Pradesh twice previously; once from 1983 to 1989 and then from 1994 to 2004 in the United State and later also became the first ruling party of Andhra Pradesh after the state bifurcation.
