Jallikattu: Cabinet clears ordinance

Tamil's pride and traditional bull fight  game Jallikattu ordinance has been cleared by the central cabinet with the law minister Ravishankar Prasad signing the ordinance. According to the sources, now the ordinance will be moved to the President's assent. Thus clearing the first hurdle.

However, the legal battle is not yet over as the Supreme Court has delayed the judgement by a week. The  government has passed the Jallikattu Act in 2009 but the apex court of India has struck down. The sources said that with the minor changes the ordinance has been cleared.

Though the news bursted out that the ordinance has been cleared by the cabinet, the protestors are strong and wanted a permanent solution for Jallikattu. A large number of people gathered at Marina beach today also. The protestors did not agree to call of their protest.

People from all walks of life came out on to the roads to support their cultural and traditional bull fight game Jalli Kattu. However, the animal activists opposed the centre's reaction saying that just for one state the government has come down, and in future there will be many states coming up and alleged that animal acts will go meaningless.
