Chandrababu Naidu speaks to Modi on 'Water Scarcity'

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the State Government for its set of initiatives in mitigating the drought in the state and he also directed NITI Aayog to set up a task force in consultation with the state government to comprehensively study the economic impact of drip irrigation and how technology can be used for crop insurance.


An Official release from PMO says, An amount of Rs.315.95 Crores has been released to Andhra Pradesh under National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF). This is in addition to Rs.330 Crores as central share of State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) for 2015-16 to the state.


Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also explained the efforts in building Dam's and reviving all irrigation projects as part of this drought mitigation effort. He also revealed that the state has set a target of 20 lakh hectares for micro irrigation by 2022.


Chandrababu Naidu also said the State Government is planning to divert about 80 TMC to 100 TMC of Godavari water to Krishna through Pattiseema Project. Chandrababu Naidu said Modi felt happy for all the details explained to him.
