SAD fielded candidate against Amritpal Singh...'Waris punjab De' chief Amritpal Singh has announced to contest the lok sabha elections as an independent candidate from Khadur Sahib seat of Punjab. Shiromani Akali Dal amritsar has announced support for Amritpal Singh on this seat. Meanwhile, on monday, Amritpal Singh's father Tarsem Singh has expressed his displeasure over Shiromani Akali Dal's move to field its candidate from Khadur Sahib seat.Tarsem Singh's statement came hours after SAD candidate Virsa Singh Valtoha met him and his wife on monday morning to seek support for the lok sabha elections. SAD had on sunday declared Valtoha as its candidate from Khadur Sahib seat.Amritpal Singh is lodged in Dibrugarh jail.Amritpal, the head of 'Waris punjab De' organisation, lodged in Dibrugarh jail in assam under the National Security Act, is contesting as an independent candidate from this seat. In amritsar, Tarsem Singh said that his son's name for this seat was announced four days ago. He said, "They (SAD) are making a historic mistake by fielding their own candidate." Referring to his meeting with Valtoha earlier in the day, he said the SAD candidate said that people were questioning him for contesting against Amritpal.Tarsem Singh said, "We told (Valtoha) that it is the people's decision (to field Amritpal from Khadoor Sahib)." When asked why Valtoha claimed that Amritpal's family had assured him of support in the elections, Tarsem Singh said that no such assurance was given to him. He said that rather Valtoha should support Amritpal in the elections.
