Aadhaar verification made MANDATORY for candidate identification in several Competitive Examinations

Reportedly ever since the controversy of former trainee IAS officer pooja Khedkar came to light, various changes have been brought about in the recruitment examination for several major government jobs. pooja Khedkar was accused of making multiple attempts at the UPSC exam using forged documents. It was also claimed that she misused her quota benefits by submitting false caste and disability certificates.

Perhaps the Railway Recruitment Board has made Aadhaar verification of candidates mandatory for all examinations. In the month of August, Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) issued a notice which stated that candidates applying for any post will have to prove their identity through Aadhaar verification while applying. To ensure privacy of candidates, the Railway Board has promised not to share Aadhaar details with any third party nor give it to anyone. The purpose of taking aadhar details will be limited only to the verification of the identity of the candidate. Recruitment for RRB is ongoing and applications have started pouring in.

Moreover rajasthan Public service Commission (RPSC) has also made Aadhaar verification mandatory to avoid fraud by fake and dummy candidates in its recruitment examinations. The Commission has now got permission from the Ministry of Electronics and Information technology to conduct biometric verification of candidates through Aadhaar card. The Commission believes that making Aadhaar verification of candidates mandatory will prevent cheating as well as fraud. To confirm the identity of candidates, Aadhaar verification will be done in counseling and interview as well, apart from the written examination.
