Priyanka Chopra Steals SSR's Project !?!

Adinath Kothare is the director of the forthcoming bollywood film Paani, which priyanka Chopra's Purple Pebble Pictures is producing. The film recounts the life of real-life water activist Hanumant Kendre and tackles the pressing subject of water shortage in Maharashtra's Marathwada area, which is severely affected by drought. october 18, 2024 is the scheduled release date of the film.
But did you know that in the 2010s, there was another big bollywood project called Paani that created a lot of buzz? In this adaptation of Paani, a dystopian future marked by water scarcity and ensuing conflicts and instability throughout the world was shown. sushant singh rajput was slated to play the lead role, while shekhar kapur was slated to helm. The film, which was produced by Aditya Chopra's yash Raj Productions (YRF), was regrettably scrapped when YRF withdrew only one day before filming started.

Sushant, who had turned down other projects to devote himself to Paani, and shekhar kapur were both upset by the cancelation. Despite having no direct link to Shekhar Kapur's Paani, priyanka Chopra's film and Shekhar Kapur's version have comparable themes, such as their emphasis on water shortage. They are not the same, though; one was based on the actual efforts of Hanumant Kendre, while the other was a dystopian work of fiction.
