Telangana's BJP: Can It Succeed Without Modi?

  • Increasing Influence
  • Modi Factor
  • Political Dynamics

The bharatiya janata party (BJP), which has achieved consecutive victories at the center for three terms, still struggles to establish a strong presence in several states, including Telangana. bjp leaders have been intensively working to make inroads in telangana, evident from high-profile campaigns even during smaller elections like the ghmc polls, where key leaders such as narendra modi and yogi adityanath actively participated. This highlights the party's dedication to gaining traction in the state.

In the 2023 assembly elections, the bjp secured 8 assembly seats, a notable improvement from previous performances but still relatively modest. In recent parliamentary elections, the ruling congress party won 8 seats, indicating a gradual increase in BJP's influence in Telangana. Despite this progress, the political landscape in the state remains fluid. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), credited with achieving statehood for telangana, appears to be on the decline, and some analysts view the Congress's recent victory as a one-time phenomenon.

Political experts suggest that the BJP's chances of success in the upcoming assembly elections are increasing. However, this surge in support is largely attributed to what is often termed "Modi mania." This raises an important question: What will be the fate of the bjp in telangana politics if narendra modi is no longer the Prime Minister? Will the party be able to maintain its momentum and secure a stronghold in the state?

As the political scenario unfolds, it remains to be seen whether the bjp can sustain its growth and emerge as a dominant force in telangana without the direct influence of Modi. The upcoming elections will be a crucial test of the party's strategy and resilience in the state.
