Arvind Kejriwal moves High Court against CBI arrest

Arvind kejriwal, the chief minister of delhi, filed a motion in the delhi High court on monday challenging his detention by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the liquor policy scandal. This event occurs two days after a delhi court placed the chief minister under judicial prison till July 12 (on Saturday). While granting him detention, the lower court noted that the investigation is still ongoing and that his name came up as one of the "main conspirators".

After his three days of detention, kejriwal was brought before the cbi in court. The agency then requested a 14-day judicial custody order, alleging that the AAP chairman purposefully provided evasive answers and did not assist with the probe.

In its request for remand, the agency also voiced concern that he would have an impact on possible witnesses who haven't been interviewed yet as well as witnesses and evidence that were already presented to him during the detention questioning.

On june 26, kejriwal, 55, was taken into custody by the cbi from Tihar Jail, where he was the subject of a related Enforcement Directorate money laundering probe. Stay tuned.
