In the recently held lok sabha elections, Virudhunagar constituency was seen as the most important star constituency in tamil Nadu. In this constituency, Manikam Tagore, who was already an MP, contested on behalf of the congress party, actress radhika Sarathkumar on behalf of the BJP, and Vijaya Prabhakaran, the son of DMDK leader Vijayakanth, who was part of the AIADMK alliance.

During the counting of votes, there was a fierce contest between Vijaya Prabhakaran and Manikam Tagore. As a result, the excitement and anticipation of who will win this constituency continued till the last minute. In the end Manickam Tagore was declared the winner. Meanwhile, Premalatha Vijayakanth, who met the media the day after the counting of votes, said there was a mess in the counting of votes. He demanded to order a re-counting of votes.

In this regard, he has submitted a petition to the election commission in delhi on behalf of the election Commission. In this case, election commission officials have informed that there is no possibility of re-counting in Virudhunagar lok sabha constituency. The election commission has given an explanation while DMK candidate Vijaya Prabhakaran has filed a petition seeking re-counting. As the election results have been filed with the President, the election documents cannot be retrieved. The election commission cannot order a recount even if it wants to. It has been reported that if the unsuccessful candidate wants, he can seek a solution only through the court.
