I4C and DoT come together to stop parcel scam

The indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C) and the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) have partnered to stop spoof calls coming from outside India. For this, a partnership has been made with Microsoft. Under the parcel scam, calls often come in the name of officials of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and other law enforcement agencies. What is a parcel scam?

Parcel scam is a new kind of scam. In this, cyber thugs call people and say that they are officers of NCB, cbi, or Customs Department. These thugs also put the photo of an officer of these agencies in whatsapp DP so that people believe it. After that, they tell people that SIM cards, passports, etc. have been recovered in their name, and money laundering is also being done.

Apart from this, these thugs send fake cbi letters to people and threaten to send them to jail. After this, they ask for money, and in many cases, they also digitally arrest people.
