I4C and DoT come together to stop parcel scam

The indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C) and the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) have partnered to stop spoof calls coming from outside India. For this, a partnership has been made with Microsoft. Under the parcel scam, calls often come in the name of officials of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and other law enforcement agencies. Recently, the government has blocked more than 1,000 Skype IDs involved in parcel scams and wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW">digital arrest scams with the help of Microsoft.


What is a parcel scam?


Parcel scam is a new kind of scam. In this, cyber thugs call people and say that they are officers of NCB, cbi, or Customs Department. These thugs also put the photo of an officer of these agencies in whatsapp DP so that people believe it. After that, they tell people that SIM cards, passports, etc. have been recovered in their name, and money laundering is also being done.


Apart from this, these thugs send fake cbi letters to people and threaten to send them to jail. After this, they ask for money, and in many cases, they also digitally arrest people. Once you give money, they ask for money again and again and their tone and style of talking is so accurate that you will not be able to decide whether they are real officers or fake.


What to do to avoid parcel scams?


According to the home Ministry, the easiest and simplest way to avoid such scams is to be aware. Do not respond to any call or message without checking. Apart from this, if you have even the slightest doubt, then complain about it on the Cyber Dost website or Chakshu portal. Do not make the mistake of sending money under any circumstances. Apart from this, do not give them your personal information like bank account number, PAN card number, Aadhaar number, oraddress at any cost.
