Climate change will get worse?

Climate change will get worse…?

The ocean absorbs about one-fourth of the man-made carbon from the atmosphere, which reduces the effect of climate change to a great extent. A big cost of this is coming in the form of a decrease in the pH of sea water. The increasing carbon in the atmosphere eventually gets deposited in the ocean in the form of carbonic acid on a large scale through atmospheric pressure, that is, the sea water is getting acidified. Compared to now, by the end of the century, the pH of the ocean will decrease by 0.3 units.

In percentage, compared to the pre-industrial period, the ocean has become acidic by 30%, which will increase to 170% by the year 2100. Due to this, the amount of carbon absorbed by the ocean from the atmosphere will decrease, due to which climate change will take a more severe form. The effect of ocean acidification is destroying coral reefs on a large scale. Coral reefs are a sensitive and rich marine ecosystem found in the shallow, clear and warm equatorial seas. In which one-fourth of the species of the ocean are found. It is also called the rain forest of the ocean.

Due to the temperature of sea water and the acid dissolved in the water, the organisms that make corals by secreting calcium carbonate are dying, which is also called coral bleaching and along with that, marine biodiversity is decreasing on a large scale. This is creating a crisis of coastal food security.
