Who will be more important among Nitish-Naidu for the post of lok sabha Speaker, will bjp be able to find a middle path?

Modi 3.0 Update: After the lok sabha elections, the nda government formed for the third time under the leadership of prime minister Narendra Modi has started functioning. The work has been distributed among the ministers. In such a situation, now once again everyone's eyes are fixed on the post of lok sabha Speaker, on which along with bjp, both the major parties supporting the government JDU and tdp are also eyeing. Both bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar's JDU and chandrababu naidu, who is preparing to take over as chief minister in andhra pradesh, have staked claim to the post of lok sabha Speaker several times. Meanwhile, bjp itself is trying to retain this post. For this, the name of andhra pradesh bjp President purandeswari has been put forward, on which Naidu can also agree. Now it remains to be seen who among the three gets this post.

Why will tdp agree on Purandeswari's name?

BJP is hopeful that tdp will agree on the name of BJP's andhra pradesh President D. Purandeswari. Actually purandeswari is the daughter of former Andhra chief minister and tdp founder NT Rama Rao, but in 1996 when Naidu overthrew Rama Rao, purandeswari supported her brother-in-law instead of her father. This will give tdp a chance to say that their state has got this post even if they do not become the speaker.

The importance of nitish kumar and chandrababu naidu for bjp can be gauged from the fact that the future of the government depends on their support. Their parties have also been given preference in the distribution of ministries. PM Modi has taken oath in the cabinet with 71 ministers, out of which 11 non-BJP MPs have got ministries. Despite this, Nitish and Naidu want to keep the speaker post with themselves for a special reason. Actually, both the leaders feel that if the post of Speaker is with them, then if the Modi-Shah duo ever tries to break their parties, it will help in thwarting it.

BJP has had the Speaker in both the previous terms

In both the previous terms of prime minister Narendra Modi, the post of lok sabha Speaker has been with the BJP. Earlier, sumitra mahajan held this post, while in 2019 this post was given to Om Birla. Both the times, due to the bjp having a majority on its own in the lok sabha, there was no one to challenge it, but the situation has changed in the 17th Lok Sabha. bjp has 240 seats in the lok sabha, that is, it is 32 seats behind the majority on its own. 16 MPs of tdp and 12 MPs of JDU have played an important role in forming the nda government. On this basis, both the parties are staking their claim. TDP's claim is strong on the fact that in the nda government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee, its own mp GMC Balayogi was made the lok sabha Speaker.

BJP can also bet on om birla again

BJP can once again nominate om birla for the post of lok sabha Speaker. Actually, Birla has not got a place in PM Modi's cabinet. It is believed that Birla has not been given the ministerial post only to appoint him to the post of Speaker. If Birla becomes the Speaker again, then he will equal congress leader Balram Jakhar in the record of completing the tenure by being elected to this post twice in a row, who has been the only leader to do so before this.

How will the lok sabha Speaker be elected

With the formation of the new lok sabha, the post of Speaker becomes vacant. In the first meeting of the lok sabha, a temporary Speaker is appointed. After this, nominations are made for the permanent Speaker. After the nomination is completed, all the members of the lok sabha vote in favor of the candidate of their choice. The candidate who gets more votes is elected as the lok sabha Speaker.

What is the Speaker's responsibility?

The Speaker's responsibility is to run the parliament in a transparent manner, rising above party thinking.

The Speaker is the chief spokesperson of the lok sabha and the chief interpreter of parliamentary rules.

According to the Constitution, the Speaker has great power to take action against an mp and disqualify him under the anti-defection law.

When a majority government is in power in the parliament, the Speaker is merely a formal person who runs the House, but in coalition governments his role becomes important.

According to the general tradition, the post of Speaker in parliament remains with the ruling coalition, while the post of Deputy Speaker is given to someone from the opposition parties. However, there is no rule for this.
