Rahul gandhi Defamation Case: Former congress President rahul gandhi on friday reached a Bengaluru court for hearing in a defamation case. The court has granted bail to rahul gandhi in this defamation case related to the karnataka assembly election campaign held last year. The next hearing in this case will be held on July 30. Apart from rahul gandhi, karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah and deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar have also been made accused in this defamation case filed by the karnataka unit of BJP. These three congress leaders are accused of spreading false propaganda against the then state government of bjp by calling it corrupt during the assembly election campaign. The court had granted bail to Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar on june 1 itself, while rahul gandhi was granted bail on Friday.

Propaganda was done through advertisements

After the assembly elections in karnataka last year, the bjp had accused the congress of giving false advertisements in newspapers for false propaganda. The then chief minister and bjp leader Basavaraj Bommai had blamed rahul gandhi, chief minister Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar for these advertisements. rahul gandhi was also accused of posting this insulting advertisement on his X handle.

BJP had released 'Corruption Rate Card'

Actually, before the karnataka assembly elections 2024, an advertisement was given in newspapers by the Congress. In this advertisement, the then bjp government of the state was accused of committing large-scale corruption during its tenure from 2019 to 2023. congress had also published a 'rate card of corruption' against the then chief minister Basavaraj Bommai and other senior bjp leaders, in which the leaders of the then bjp government were accused of taking 40 percent commission in public works during the elections in the state. Regarding this, the bjp had filed a defamation case against the Congress.

Rahul has lost his mp seat earlier too

Rahul gandhi has been involved in many cases of defamation. Earlier, the CJM court of Surat, gujarat had also sentenced rahul gandhi to two years in a defamation case. This sentence, pronounced on march 23, 2023, was given in a defamation case related to his comment about the surname Modi. Due to this, on march 24, the Legislative assembly Secretariat also expelled rahul from the Parliament. Due to this, he also lost his membership of parliament from wayanad seat. However, later the supreme court gave him relief by staying the sentence. However, rahul had already vacated his bungalow on 22 April.
