In some areas, the temperature has touched 50 degrees, while Mungeshpur area has recorded a temperature of 52.9 degrees Celsius. fire has also become a problem for delhi, which is battling the heat. Apart from the fire in vivek Vihar's Baby Care Center, many major incidents have occurred during the last 10 days. You can get an idea of how bad the situation is by the fact that the delhi fire services control room is receiving more than 200 calls about fires in different parts of the capital every day within 24 hours. This is the highest number of calls received by the control room in a single day in the last 10 years regarding fires in the capital.

Even on diwali, so many calls were not received in a single day

According to Atul Garg, director of delhi fire Department, 'We are receiving more than 200 calls about fires every day. So many calls were not received in a single day even on diwali last year. Most of these calls are coming from industrial areas like Narela, Bawana and Burari in West Delhi. This is the highest number of fire reports received in a single day i.e. within 24 hours in the last decade.'

If the temperature increases by 1 degree...

According to Garg, 'The temperature is very high. Due to this, there have been a lot of incidents of fire. The department has received 214, 238 and 261 calls in the last 3 days. Earlier, on May 19 and 20, the department had received 202 and 225 calls. In contrast, last year the highest number of calls in a day was 164 on May 27. If the temperature increases by even 1 degree, there will be incidents of fire at more than 250 places every day. So far, 12 people including a child have died due to fire in the capital.'

The burden on the fire service has increased, this is the department's preparation

According to Garg, 'The scorching heat has increased the pressure on the fire services of the capital. Due to the increase in the number of emergency incidents, firefighters have to work continuously without getting tired. We have adopted new technologies. The fire department has purchased many equipment like drones etc. for the first time so that fire can be monitored.

Delhi fire services has increased the number of firefighting robots in its fleet from 6 to 18. The fire service has bought smoke exhausters to remove smoke from the affected areas during rescue operations.

26 pick-up vans have been bought to carry out rescue operations in case of fire in narrow lanes.

Firefighters are being asked to collect water from borewells, ponds and metro stations instead of running their water units.

 Why have the incidents of fire suddenly increased?

According to delhi fire service officials, most of the fire incidents are happening in industrial areas, where factories have easily flammable materials. More than 70 percent of the fire incidents are happening due to electric faults.
