Bus fell into deep ditch

A bus carrying devotees in Akhnoor slipped off the road and fell into a ditch about 150 feet deep. So far 21 people have died in this accident, while more than 40 have been injured. The injured have been admitted to a hospital in Jammu.

Officials said that the devotees were going to Shiv Khodi to have darshan of Bhole Baba. Then the bus went out of control near Tangdi Kunji Mod in Chowki Chora area and fell into a deep ditch. The death toll may increase. The seriously injured have been referred to the district hospital. At the same time, relief and rescue work is going on at the spot.

The bus was going from UP to Shiv Khodi

Officials further said that all the injured have been taken to Akhnoor Hospital. However, the seriously injured have been referred to the government Medical college Hospital in Jammu city. He said that the bus was taking devotees from Kurukshetra in haryana to Shiv Khodi located in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that the number of the bus carrying the devotees was UP81 CT-4058, when it reached Tungi Mod near Chowki Chora, the bus fell into a deep ditch. 21 pilgrims died and 40 passengers were injured in the accident. The bodies have been kept in SD Hospital Akhnoor.
