Union minister of Railways ashwini Vaishnav said that in this project which has been going on since 2020, a major milestone has been reached in the construction of the undersea tunnel.

The bullet train project between India's commercial capital Mumbai and Gujarat's largest city ahmedabad has reached a significant milestone.

Union Railway minister ashwini Vaishnav  about the much-anticipated controversial project. It said, "An important milestone has been reached in the construction of the undersea tunnel in the project, which will start in 2020 (when the Covid pandemic started)."


The 394 meter long tunnel was completed in 6 months. This tunnel will facilitate the construction of the 21 km long main tunnel. 7 km of which is under the sea. There is a tunnel in the distance.


The total length of the project is 508.18 km. The bullet train is said to have 12 stations when it runs between ahmedabad and Mumbai. train services on this route are expected to begin at Bandra-Kurla Complex, Mumbai's business district. There will also be bullet train and metro rail connectivity. The construction work is also going on.

Rs 1,08,000 crore project:

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project is scheduled to start in 2026. The travel time between the two major cities will be drastically reduced. The Rs 1,08,000 crore project has been mired in controversy since its inception.


While economic activity came to a standstill during the Covid-19 period, construction work took place raising questions about the project's viability. Doubts were also raised about the cost of the project. However, it is also said that this project is necessary considering the transport facility.
