However, smart cards are required to purchase tickets through ATVMs, which many passengers do not purchase. Hence, retired railway officials were appointed to issue tickets through ATVMs. Retired railway officials were relieved as many ATVMs were out of order.Railway StationsChennai Division has proposed to install 100 new ATVM machines at 47 railway stations including Thirumailai, Sindathirippet, Beach, Tambaram, Avadi, Thiruvallur and appoint ticketing facilitators inviting applications from retired railway employees and members.ATVMApplications received for the appointment of coordinators closed in the first week of May. The railway official added that facilitators will be appointed once the lok sabha results are declared and the rules of conduct are lifted. This has created happiness among the train passengers.
