Good news from Railways..

Arrangements for provision of Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) at railway stations have been accelerated to get facilitators to issue train tickets.

Southern Railway will soon appoint ticketing facilitators through Automated Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) installed at various stations across the city. chennai Division of Southern Railway invited applications from retired railway employees and public to issue suburban train tickets through ATVMs.

Chennai Division has recently installed new ATVMs to replace the old and damaged ATVMs installed many years ago. A senior railway official of chennai Division said, “Southern Railway will additionally issue tickets through ATVMs at ticket counters at railway stations and wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW">digital tickets through Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) mobile application.

Train Ticket

As ATVM machines are installed at railway stations, passengers do not have to wait in long queues. However, smart cards are required to purchase tickets through ATVMs, which many passengers do not purchase. Hence, retired railway officials were appointed to issue tickets through ATVMs. Retired railway officials were relieved as many ATVMs were out of order.

Chennai Division has proposed to install 100 new ATVM machines at 47 railway stations including Thirumailai, Sindathirippet, Beach, Tambaram, Avadi, Thiruvallur and appoint ticketing facilitators inviting applications from retired railway employees and members.

Applications received for the appointment of coordinators closed in the first week of May. The railway official added that facilitators will be appointed once the lok sabha results are declared and the rules of conduct are lifted. This has created happiness among the train passengers.
