P.R. Pandyan allegation

BR Pandian, Chairman of the Coordinating Committee of All Farmers Unions, has said that the tamil Nadu government should file a case against kerala for violating the supreme Court's verdict in Mulla Periyar.

tamil nadu government should strongly condemned kerala government on mullaperiyar dam issue said pr pandian in madurai

Farmers staged a sit-in protest in front of madurai Damukkam Head Post office today against the kerala government's new dam construction project. Various agricultural organizations of tamil Nadu and their representatives participated in this protest. Following this, Chairman of the Coordination Committee of All tamil Nadu Farmers' Unions, PR Pandian, while speaking to the media, said that the tamil Nadu government should wage a serious legal battle to protect the water rights of tamil Nadu.

Contempt of court case against kerala Govt should be pursued immediately. The chief minister of tamil Nadu is silent on these matters. They have passed a resolution with the support of the tamil Nadu government to build the Meghathattu Dam in Karnataka. Andhra government is building dams across the river. A dam is being built across the Spider River which flows into the amaravati River. The construction of dams across the Siruvani river has been completed. The chief minister of tamil Nadu is watching the loss of economic rights like this.

We are uniting various farmers and agricultural organizations to protect Mulla Periyar irrigation rights because we can never allow this again. But the tamil Nadu government is sleeping. The ruling government of tamil Nadu is oblivious to all these because of its political strength.

There is a fear that the tamil Nadu government is indirectly supporting the central government. It is because of this fear that we, the farmers, are standing up today. The first phase of the protest is happening in madurai today. He said that we will intensify our struggle till our demand is fulfilled and until the supreme court rejects the kerala contempt petition.

More than 100 people from various districts of tamil Nadu, especially Dindigul, Theni, madurai, Sivagangai, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar and other southern districts including representatives of farmers and agricultural associations participated in this protest. The farmers who tried to march to the Income Tax office in Chokkikulam were stopped by the police and there was a brief scuffle. The police condemned the move and the farmers protested. There was tension for a while as the protesters tried to burn a copy of the central government's order to build a new dam in Mullai Periyar.
