Dr. Mondithoka Jaganmohana Rao contested as a YSRCP candidate in the 2019 general elections and was elected as an mla for the first time by winning with a majority of 10881 votes over his nearest rival telugu desam party candidate Tangirala Soumya.
He marched from Nandigama in krishna district to srisailam in february 2020 in support of andhra pradesh State's decision of decentralization & three capitals. In the last election, Jaganmohan Rao and Tangirala Soumya data-faced each other and Jaganmohan Rao's side people stood in it.
