Another woman who had a vampire facial at a spa in 2018 also tested positive for HIV.

A US Centers for Disease Control and Department of health investigation found 59 spa clients may have contracted hiv at the spa. Of these, 20 received the Vampire Spa, while the rest received injections for services such as anti-wrinkle treatments. However, according to officials, the source of hiv infection at the spa is unknown. In 2022 the owners of VIP Spa pleaded guilty to practicing medicine without a license. They were sentenced to three and a half years in prison.
