Silence on PSUs and 4-year degrees in congress manifesto...

Though well-meaning, the indian national congress manifesto is unoriginal. This is somewhat hidden by the government's current policy. The party is hesitant to offer any firm word on the new course suggested to address the faltering economy, even as it declares it would reevaluate the NEP, the new education system. Regarding empowering and superfluous 4-year BA degrees modeled on the astronomically expensive American model, PSUs remain silent.

Congress moves cautiously

In addition to expressing general discontent with the NEP, it states that it would "reconsider and modify the New education Policy (NEP) after discussion with the state governments". Does this imply that congress must keep the four-year degree program in place? The young people's self-confidence would rise when it ended.

Every young person will data-face extra costs of at least Rs 3 lakh annually and experience a postponement in entering the workforce. A young person loses four years of study time overall in this system, from four years of nursery school to the new four-year degree. Could congress not have discussed doing away with the pointless fourth year of college? This means that an extra Rs 6 lakh crore will need to be spent annually on two crore kids. It is hard to even begin to calculate the financial and social cost of the four years wasted during this time.
