The seven-round lok sabha polls, which are slated to take place between april 19 and june 1, will feature single-phase elections in as many as 22 states and union territories in India. The ballots will be tallied on june 4. According to data from the election commission of india, four of the five states in south india are on the list. Each of these states and union territories has 182 seats. With 39 seats, tamil Nadu will hold elections first in the first phase on april 19. Kerala, with all 20 seats up for election in a single round, will hold elections in the second phase on april 26.

The bharatiya janata party has been trying to establish itself in both states after receiving no seats in 2019. Therefore, these two states are crucial for the party. In Kerala, the congress won 15 seats in that year's elections, while the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) won 24 seats in tamil Nadu.

On May 13, there will be a single-day election in the fourth phase for the 25-seat state of Andhra Pradesh. In the state, neither the bjp nor the congress were successful. On May 13, the fourth phase of voting will also take place in Telangana, which has 17 lok sabha seats. Here, the bjp received four seats in 2019 and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi won nine seats. Three seats were won by the Congress. Karnataka, the fifth southern state with 28 lok sabha seats, will hold elections in two stages. The state will hold elections for 14 seats each in the second and third phases.

The other states and union territories that will hold single-phase elections include Gujarat, where the third round of voting for all 26 seats is scheduled for May 7. On May 25, voting in the sixth phase will take place in Haryana, which has ten seats. Thirteen seats from punjab have been reserved for the june 1 final round of voting. On May 25, single-phase elections will be held for each of Delhi's seven seats. On april 19, Uttarakhand, which has five seats, will also be included in the first round.
