First, check if your name is on the voter list. You can only vote if your name is on the list. You don't need to go anywhere for this. You can check your name in the online voter list sitting at home.
How to Check Name in Voter List
Through online:
- For this.. first go to https://nvsp.in/ website.
- Click on Electoral Roll here.
- A new webpage will open immediately. Enter your Voter ID details there.
- This includes details like name, age, date of birth, gender, state, district, etc.
- After this enter the captcha code given below and click on search.
- On the same page you will get another link to enter the EPIC number, state, and captcha code.
- After that a new tab will open and you can check if your name is on the voter list.
- For this, you need to send a text message from your phone.
- Type EPIC and enter voter ID card number.
- Then send this message to 9211728082 or 1950.
- After this, a message will be sent to your number. Your polling number and name will be written on it.
- You will not receive any information if your name is not on the voter list.
Through helpline number:
Similarly.. through the helpline number also one can know whether the name is in the voter list or not. For this one has to call the election commission of india toll-free number 1950. After that according to IVR (Interactive Voice Response).. you have to select the language of your choice. Then follow the prompt call and select the 'Voter ID Status' option. As IVR says.. EPIC voter ID number should be entered. After entering this number, your Voter ID status will be known.
