CM n biren singh says 5,457 illegal immigrants found...

Chief minister n biren singh announced on wednesday that the Manipur government has identified 5,457 illegal immigrants in a state district, adding that 5,173 immigrants' biometric data had been obtained from them. Singh posted on X, saying, "As of May 7, 2024, the government has detected a total of 5457 illegal immigrants in Kamjong district, Manipur." 5173 of these undocumented immigrants have had their biometric information gathered thus far out of the total. He declared that Manipur's illegal immigrants are currently being deported.

"The deportation procedure is in motion. Humanitarian aid has been provided to all illegal immigrants who have been apprehended thus far. We have been treating the situation with the utmost respect even though it is disturbing," Singh continued. On May 2, Singh said that the initial stage of deporting illegal immigrants from Myanmar has concluded in Manipur. A total of 38 immigrants were sent out of the country through Moreh, a data-border town situated in the Tengnoupal district of Manipur, which data-borders Myanmar, approximately 110 km south of Imphal. In support of this, he even published a social media post.

Reports surdata-faced in march of this year about the airlifting of seven Myanmar nationals—including women—from Imphal international Airport to the data-border town of Moreh in order to deport them. The chief minister had mentioned how it threatened "indigenous people and national security" last month, highlighting a study on the unnatural emergence of 996 new settlements with a population of illegal immigrants. In response to a query from the opposition at the most recent state assembly session, chief minister Singh stated that 6,746 undocumented Myanmarese were found in the state between May 3 of last year and february 27 of this year.
