Police arrested Sukant while sitting on dharna in Sandeshkhali

In West bengal, political struggle is going on regarding Sandeshkhali of North 24 Parganas. When bjp state unit president Sukant Majumdar went to Sandeshkhali on thursday (February 22) after getting permission from the police, he sat on a dharna demanding the arrest of absconding TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh, accused of harassing women. On this the police took Sukant into custody and then signed the bail bond and let him go.

What did Sukant Majumdar say?

Speaking to news agency ANI, Sukant Majumdar said, "The police dragged us, forcibly brought us and after bringing us in this manner, kept us sitting on a ferry in the middle of the river. There we were made to sign the bail bond.'' He said, ''Arrested, detained. We were released after signing the bail bond.

Targeted regarding section 144

Sukant Majumdar said, “We were sitting on the dharna, they were saying that you are breaking 144… On the other hand, your mla is roaming from village to village with 50 people, at the same place, no 144 is applicable. This bias 144 cannot continue. We will go to court if necessary.

The bjp state president said, "No one can catch Sheikh Shahjahan."
