Plant trees and get rebate in electricity bill scheme started in Jharkhand

The scheme of Plant trees, get rebate in electricity bill has started in Jharkhand. Under this, people will be able

to apply in the offices of municipal bodies till the month of February. This scheme is only for urban areas, in

which those planting trees will get five units of free electricity per tree. This benefit will be available for a

maximum of five trees, that is, a consumer will be able to avail the benefit of up to 25 units of free electricity in

lieu of five trees. This scheme was approved by the government in the month of July itself. Chief Minister

Hemant Soren had announced during Van Mahotsav a year ago that people who plant trees in their residential

premises in urban areas will be given a subsidy of five units of electricity per tree. The government has approved

to implement this scheme from the financial year 2023-24. This benefit will be available only on planting fruitful

and big shady trees in private residential premises. As long as there are trees in the campus or residential

premises, consumers will continue to get this benefit of discount in electricity bills.

What is the objective of the scheme?

The objective of this scheme is to develop greenery in the urban areas of the state and keep the environment

clean. The municipal body will count the trees planted in residential complexes and its list will be submitted to

the forest department. The Forest Department will monitor it on the basis of the list of trees and after measuring

the length and breadth of the trees, it will hand over the list of eligible beneficiaries of this scheme to the

Electricity Department.

The government also started this scheme

Earlier, the jharkhand government had launched 'Aapki' to ease the access of needy people to government

schemes and to dispose of various types of applications including ration card, Kisan Credit Card, Pension

Scheme, job Card, Ayushman Card, Student Credit Card on the spot. The Yojana, Aapki Sarkar, Aapke Dwar

campaign was started.
