Rs.40,000 salary hike for LLA and ministers!?

Chief minister Mamata Banerjee has said that the salaries of legislators in West bengal are very low compared to other states. West bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on thursday announced a hike in the salaries of her cabinet ministers, ministers and legislators. The monthly salary of these three categories is increased by Rs.40,000. The monthly salary of the legislators was Rs.10,000. Now it has increased to Rs.50,000. The monthly salary of the ministers has been increased from Rs.10,900 to Rs.50,900. The salary of cabinet Ministers has been increased from Rs 11,000 to Rs 51,000.



It has also been said that the other benefits of cabinet Ministers, Ministers of State and Members of Legislative assembly in addition to their monthly salary will continue.

The monthly salary income of legislators will increase from Rs 81,000 to Rs 1.21 lakh, including other allowances. Similarly, henceforth the monthly salary income of the ministers will increase from Rs.1.10 lakh to Rs.1.50 lakh. Announcing the hike in the state assembly on thursday, the chief minister said the decision to raise the salary of legislators in West bengal was taken considering that it was very low compared to other states.


While the state government employees have been demanding for a long time that the central government employees should be given the same dearness allowance, political observers believe that the increase in the salaries of the ministers and MLAs will cause unrest among the government employees.
