Telangana Mynampalli to remain in BRS?
Even four days after Mynampalli Hanumantha Rao, a malkajgiri mla, threatened to politically assassinate Finance minister T. harish rao and made it clear to the party leadership that he would only accept re-nomination if his son Rohit Rao received the medak ticket, there was still some mystery surrounding his BRS candidature. According to reports, the dissident mla is pursuing alternate possibilities with the congress and the bjp, with the condition that his son's ticket remains a rider.
According to sources, he reportedly offered to pay the fees for each of the nine candidates running in the undivided medak district for whichever party decides to provide the father-and-son team tickets. He called a meeting of party members to discuss the future, and sources say that while he is still open to considering other options, the bulk of them are unwilling to change sides.
A recording of Hanumantha Rao allegedly bragging about his daredevil exploits and his carefree attitude towards chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and prime minister Narendra Modi is doing the rounds. He also had harsh words for A. revanth Reddy, head of the TPCC. Notably, chief minister K. chandrasekhar Rao has maintained his impartiality notwithstanding Hanumantha Rao's warning to harish rao, minister K.T. Rama Rao, and MLC K. Kavitha's hasty condemnation of the MLA. He deferred to the malkajgiri MLA's choice to follow the party's ruling.
Following what appear to be Rama Rao's orders, BRS leaders like Krishank Manne, who was turned down for a ticket from secunderabad Cantonment, went too far and attacked Hanumantha Rao. At one point, there were rumours coming from some leaders in the ruling party that Rajasekhar Reddy, the son-in-law of minister Ch Malla Reddy, would run as the BRS candidate in Malkajgiri.
According to sources, Rao spoke with the president of the tpcc and the head of the bjp election management committee, Etala Rajendar. He demanded to know why the bjp could guarantee tickets to the father and son but not to the former chief minister of Karnataka, B.S. Yediyurappa, and his son Vijayendra.
