'UP will be the first state in the country to have 18 'safe cities' in three months'


Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has given instructions to develop all 17 municipal corporations of the state and noida as 'Safe City'. He said on tuesday that within the next three months, Uttar Pradesh will be the first state in the country to have 18 safe cities.

The chief minister took stock of the action plan for the expansion of the 'Safe City' project in the state by holding a review meeting with senior officials of the home Department. A spokesman of the state government said here that Adityanath directed to develop all the 17 municipal corporations of the state and GautamBudh nagar as 'Safe City' in the first phase. Also said that the work of the first phase should be completed within the next three months.

Chief Secretary review         

cm Yogi said that during the work of the first phase, the responsibility given to the concerned department should be completed within the stipulated time and the Chief Secretary should review it fortnightly. He directed the officials that in the second phase of this project, 57 district headquarters municipalities and in the third phase 143 municipalities should be connected with the 'Safe City' project. He said that its 'special branding' should also be done by putting a board of Safe City at the entrance of all such cities.


The chief minister said that the Safe City project is focused on the safety of women. Giving this extension, it should also be linked to the safety of the elderly, children and the disabled. He said that through this project, modern control rooms, pink police booths, Asha JyotiKendras, CCTV cameras, help desks for counselors in women police stations, 'panic buttons' in buses and other security measures would be provided under the lucknow Police Commissionerate in the state. will be implemented.

Through this project, the campaign to create a safe, secure and empowered environment for women, children, elderly and disabled people in public places will get the necessary impetus. cm Yogi said that the Safe City Portal should also be developed. With this, all such departments should be linked, through which welfare schemes are being run in the interest of women, children, elderly and disabled people.
